Lifetime Television has premiered a new cooking series that teaches guests how to double flavor in food while cutting fat so they can drop weight and lose inches.

is a new series on Lifetime Television that offers tips and techniques to cut the fat content of food while doubling the flavor. The hosts of Cook Yourself Thin work with one guest every week. In the series premiered on Monday, May 4. The hosts of the series are culinary experts Candice Kumai, Allison Fishman and Harry Eastwood. These three culinary experts and serious foodies instruct guests and viewers how to lose weight using clever cooking techniques instead of extreme dieting.

Episode One: Lasagna, Steak and Cupcakes

In the series premiere, the hosts worked with a woman who wanted to lose weight to get in better shape, with an ultimate goal of getting pregnant. The culinary experts showed the guest how to cut the calories of recipes in half, making lasagna, steak and potatoes and vanilla cupcakes.

Methods the hosts used to cut the fat without losing flavor included making spinach and mushroom veggie lasagna instead of a meat and cheese dish, serving the broiled rib eye steak with cauliflower mashed potatoes and making a cupcake frosted with egg white frosting flavored with fresh vanilla beans.

The hosts taught the woman how to prepare the food with step-by-step instructions and sent her home with the ingredients, tips and tools needed to for low fat but flavorful cooking at home.

At the end of the half hour episode the hosts of the series visited the guest at home, six weeks later, and found that she had dropped 10 pounds and had gone down almost two dress sizes, using the techniques and recipes she learned on the show.

Cooking Yourself Thin is about eating flavorful food and having fun in the kitchen, according the series host. The series promises that dieters can have their cake and eat it too with the fat cutting techniques that they demonstrate on the show.

Cook Yourself Thin is based on a popular British series and cook book of the same name. This cooking series encourages women to lose weight by changing their cooking and eating habits.

  • Chef Allison Fishman has worked for Martha Steward and on Food Network as a food stylist and recipe developer.
  • Candice Kumai, professionally trained at Le Cordon Bleu, was a contestant of the first season of Bravo’s Top Chef.

Cook Yourself Thin airs on Monday through Friday at 5:00 PM ET/PT.
